Coming Soon: Where Love Led Us

Some of the most important changes in our lives begin without us realizing where they will lead.

When I first met Elizabeth through our work in Northern Virginia, I could not have known that our relationship would eventually bring me to a new home and a new life in El Salvador. Yet, looking back, that meeting became the beginning of a journey I am grateful to have taken.

That journey is the heart of my upcoming book, Where Love Led Us: A Journey from Virginia to a New Life in El Salvador.

The Story Behind the Book

In these pages, I share how Elizabeth and I met, how our relationship grew, and how we began imagining a future together. The story follows us through marriage, my first visit to El Salvador, retirement, and the work of building a home here.

Along the way, there were decisions to make, obstacles to overcome, and moments when our plans did not unfold as expected. There were also family celebrations, quiet discoveries, and the feeling that I had found a place where I belonged.

This book also includes the difficult chapters of our life together—health challenges, loss, and the care and support that helped us through them. I wanted to tell our story honestly, with room for both its happiness and its hardships.

Readers of this blog already know something about our life in El Salvador. This book tells more of the story of how we arrived here and what that journey has meant to me.

The Final Steps Toward Publication

We are now getting close to publication. Luz Raudales is working on preparing the book in Atticus, and I have just sent her the file containing the photographs that will accompany the story.

I am thankful for Luz’s valuable technical skills, advice, and help in bringing this project together. Seeing the words and photographs come together makes this stage especially meaningful.

If everything comes together as hoped, I may be able to publish sometime next week. There are still a few final steps, so I will share the confirmed release and purchase details once the book is available.

Looking Forward to Sharing It

Writing this book has given me time to revisit the choices, people, and experiences that brought Elizabeth and me to where we are today.

Sometimes I think about that first meeting and everything that followed. At the time, I could see only what was in front of me. Now, I can look back across the years and appreciate where love led us.

I look forward to sharing that journey with you.

We are looking forward to celebrating our 23rd anniversary next month on November 22nd.
